It was built between 1916 and 1921 to the designs by Louis Allmendiger. The plan is based on a Greek cross and is designed in the Russian version of the Byzantine style. The building features characteristic Onion domes atop four octagonal towers and a large central dome each topped by a large, gilded Russian Orthodox cross. The Cathedral was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is the only example of Byzantine Revival architecture in [[New York City]] and possible the United States. ===== Parish ===== [[Konstantín Leshchyov]] leads a parish of several hundred faithful, many of whom are Russian immigrants and their descendent.
