====== Spell Matrix ====== The Spell Matrix is a mental construct made by a gestalt arcane spell caster to function as a storage for their knowledge of spells. It is very similar to a spell book except that it has no physical presence in reality. Creating a Spell Matrix requires a ritual which takes 24 hours. Additional rituals must be made to expand the Spell Matrix to contain higher level spells. The cost of these rituals each take 24 hours and are listed below - other then the level limit, the Spell Matrix does not have a limit in regard to the number of spells that can be scribed into it. To be able to perform the Spell Matrix creation ritual requires that the caster can actually cast arcane spells of that level. ^ Spell Matrix maximum level ^ Cost of upgrade ^ Total cost so far ^ | Level 0 | 10.000 | 10.000 | | Level 1 | 20.000 | 30.000 | | Level 2 | 30.000 | 60.000 | | Level 3 | 40.000 | 100.000 | | Level 4 | 50.000 | 150.000 | | Level 5 | 60.000 | 210.000 | | Level 6 | 70.000 | 280.000 | | Level 7 | 80.000 | 360.000 | | Level 8 | 90.000 | 450.000 | | Level 9 | 100.000 | 550.000 | | Epic and Level 10+ | 450.000 | 1.000.000 | ===== Adding Spells ==== Arcane Casters with a Spell Matrix can add new spells to their Spell Matrix through several methods. All the usual limitations on what spells can be added apply. Before the caster can add spells to the matrix, they must find a source for the spell. This can be done in three ways: first, a caster can find the source from amongst the spells they already know or spells they gain from levelling up. Secondly, the caster can learn spells from another arcane caster - in this case the other arcane caster must willingly participate in the ritual to add the spell to the spell matrix. Finally, the caster can learn new spells by researching them. Once the source has been made available, the arcane caster must perform a ritual to add the spells to their spell matrix. This ritual requires a Discipline: Arcane check with a DC of 15 + the spell's level. A specialised wizard gains a +2 bonus on the check if the spell is from her speciality school. If the check succeeds, the ritual is a success and the spell is added to the spell matrix. If the check fails, the arcane caster cannot add the spell to their spell matrix. She cannot attempt again until she gains another rank in Spellcraft. The ritual takes up 24 hours, however, during the ritual, more than one spell may be added to the Spell Matrix. A number of spells may be added per ritual equal to the number of ranks in Discipline: Arcane that the caster possesses, plus the casters primary casting ability. Thus, a wizard with 10 ranks in Discipline: Arcane and an intelligence of 18 would be able to add 14 spells in one ritual. There is no financial cost to adding spells to the Spell Matrix - the cost of adding spells is already included in the construction ritual. ===== Learning the Spell Matrix Ritual ===== ^ Discipline: Arcane DC ^ ? | ^ Research Cost | ? | ^ Research Time | 1 week |
