Walther Kurschat is a burly, bullying, middle-aged man with keen eyes and grabby hands. He was born in East Berlin, the only son of a working family. After graduating High School without distinction, he got a job at the front desk of a local post office. Making the most of his situation, he came to significantly supplement his income through black-market trade, deal-making, and informing on the people in his community to the Stasi.

He lost his post office job after reunification, but quickly found himself a gig at one of the cities' more popular night clubs on account of some dirt that he has on the clubs' owner. He claims to know everyone that matters in the cities' night life and can be found in the club on most nights.

He has a wife, Lucia, and a bull terrier named Max. The latter accompanies him to work on most nights. He usually drinks clear vodka and can be an angry or a congenial drunk, depending on his mood. He carries a knife with him at all times, but prefers to rely on his own fists if he were to be cornered.
