Vampires explore the gothic supernatural world of Victorian London. With style.
[ Customs ]
Since Kindred live in a world where the supernatural is not just something people believe in, but something they have experienced in person, religion takes a significant place. By social custom, Kindred are expected to attend Church on Sundays to attend service with one of the priests of their clan, and failure to do so may cause concern for the well-being of their soul.
While there are many different faiths and beliefs, Kindred society only recognizes Christianity as the actual religion that underpins reality. Foreign religions, such as Judaism, Islam and Hinduism are generally viewed as a curiosity at best and potentially dangerous at worst. At the very least, non-Christians are still expected to attend church every Sunday.
Within Christianity itself, three main denominations can be found within Kindred society: Catholics, Anglicans and Protestants (the latter in several variants) and Clans may have priests of different denominations. Not all of them are on friendly terms with one another and conflict from the Kine world between these denominations echo in Kindred society.
Despite of this, the shared experience of becoming Kindred and the need to place this within the Christian context means that many Kindred are able to set aside the comparatively minor differences between the denominations to look for answers that encompass their new state of being.
